In 2023, gw2cc took significant strides forward, marking a transformative year for the platform.
Breaking Free from API Reliance
At the year’s outset, the team prioritized eliminating gw2cc’s dependence on the GW2 API data. This move proved pivotal as it eradicated issues stemming from unreliable or incomplete data. Shifting to reading from the Gw2.dat not only resolved these concerns but also opened doors to asset loading, laying the groundwork for subsequent advancements.
Map Plugin & Seamless Travel
One of the standout developments was the introduction of the map plugin, leveraging the newfound capability of asset loading. This plugin empowers users to effortlessly navigate the expansive GW2 world map, simplifying travel within the game environment.
Performance Boost with Godot 4
March marked a pivotal moment with the upgrade from Godot 3 to Godot 4. This transition delivered substantial performance enhancements, further elevating the user experience within gw2cc.
Introduction of gw2cp
The addition of Blunderbuss to the team heralded a significant milestone – the integration of gw2cp as the standard ACR for all classes. This inclusion extended high-capability ACR access to all gw2cc users. Notably, this advancement streamlined bot development and paved the way for the open source Dragon Responder bot, now also available for free in the base installation.
Milestone Achievements
The year was characterized by remarkable progress: over 2000 commits, 130 releases, and 80 automated updates facilitated by the Autoupdater. In total, we added 30 new game state managers, greatly increasing gw2cc’s capabilities and feature set. Additionally a lot of static game data can now be parsed directly from the Gw2.dat.
